Privacy Policy
The short version
There are no accounts and nothing you type is sent anywhere — the converter runs entirely on your device. Google Analytics is used to count visits, and it sets cookies. That is the only tracking on the site, and it is described in full below.
What the converter does with your input
The gram amounts and ingredients you enter are processed in your browser and never transmitted to us. We do not use local storage, session storage or cookies to remember them, so closing the tab discards everything.
One exception worth knowing about: your selections are written into the page address as it updates,
for example ?g=20&i=all-purpose-flour. That happens so you can bookmark or share a
result. It stays in your browser's address bar and history like any other URL — nothing about it is
sent to us, but be aware of it if you share a link or hand someone your device.
Server logs
The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel's servers process the information your browser sends when it requests a page — your IP address, the page requested, your browser's user-agent string, and the time. This is standard traffic handling and abuse protection, and Vercel's own privacy documentation covers what it retains.
Analytics and cookies
This site uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-288H5HW2Y6), loaded from googletagmanager.com. It is the only third-party script on the site and the
only thing that sets cookies here.
What it stores. Google Analytics sets cookies beginning _ga in your browser to tell one visit from another. They typically last up to
two years and contain a randomly generated identifier, not your name or email.
What it collects. Which pages you view, roughly where in the world you are, your device and browser type, and how you arrived — a search engine, a link, or directly. Google receives your IP address in order to serve the request; GA4 does not store it. What you type into the converter is not collected: those figures never leave your device.
Why. To see which conversions people actually need, so effort goes to the pages that get used. It is not used to build an advertising profile of you.
How to refuse it. Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics on every site. Blocking cookies for this domain, or any content blocker, also stops it — and the converter works exactly the same either way, because it does not depend on analytics or on cookies.
Advertising
There is no advertising on this site and no ad network is loaded. If that changes, the network will be a third party setting its own cookies under its own privacy policy, and this page will name it before any ads are served.
Links to other sites
We link to sources such as King Arthur Baking, USDA FoodData Central, FAO and NIST so you can check our figures. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we have no control over them.
Children
This is a cooking reference and is not directed at children. We ask for no personal details from anyone, of any age, and hold no accounts. The only data gathered is the anonymous analytics described above, which the opt-out there disables.
Your rights
Rights such as access, correction and erasure under the UK GDPR, EU GDPR and similar laws apply to personal data a site holds. We hold no accounts and no contact records. The analytics identifier in your browser cookie is held by Google, not by us, and the opt-out above removes it. For data in server logs, contact us and we will point you to the right process.
Changes
If this policy changes — most likely because analytics or advertising is switched on — the change will be described here rather than announced only by a new date at the top.
